A lot of attention has been placed on rehabilitating male inmates and the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services has embarked on a campaign to create awareness of women prisoners.
Yellow Ribbon Project coordinator Isireli Dausiga said they are now working on a rehabilitation policy for juvenile prisoners.
So far some of the initiatives undertaken are the Tagimoucia Art Gallery where the public is able to see the work of 5 senior male inmates, a weeklong cooking lesson and even having garages for inmates who have skills in the mechanical field.
The Yellow Ribbon Project was launched by the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Facilities in October last year, to utilize the skills of the inmates so that they will be able to earn a living for themselves once they are released.
