Despite the dismal political standoff between Fiji and New Zealand and their strong rivalry in the rugby field, the relationship between the Fiji Police Force and its New Zealand counterpart remains intact.

Last week, a team of New Zealand police officers were in Suva to reaffirm their support to the Fiji Police.

The three member team paid a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua.

According to the Fiji Police Website, the team brought with them the well wishes of their Commissioner of Police, Howard Broad.

Commissioner Broad congratulated Brigadier General Naivalurua on his appointment as Commissioner of Police.

Commissioner Naivalurua reassured the New Zealand officers that the Fiji Police will always be willing to assist New Zealand and work with them in fighting transnational crimes.

The team of New Zealand officers left the country last week taking with them the well wishes of Commissioner Naivalurua and his assurance to Commissioner Broad that the Fiji Police is always ready to give a helping hand to its New Zealand counterpart.
