Fiji Pearls coach, Julie Hoornweg said netball fans can expect some new things from the Fiji Pearls tonight when they take on Papua New Guinea in the Digicel Tri Series Plus One Championship.

The former England coach said she has some good leaders in the team along with youth players who all are looking forward to playing in the championship.


Papua New Guinea Netball captain, Winnie Mauara said they want to lay a solid platform for the team as they will be hosting the 2015 Pacific Games.


The Fiji Pearls thrashed the PNG Pepes 72-34 in the Pacific Netball series in Port Moresby last year.

Meanwhile, Wallaby and Melbourne Rebels player, Mark Gerrard's sister, Mo’onia Gerrard who is a Tonga born - Australian netball player will be coaching the Tonga netball side in the championship. 

The Fiji Pearls will play the PNG Pepes at 7 tonight at the Vodafone Arena. 

At 4.35pm today, Tonga will play Fiji A.
