The Fiji Pearls will need to win their remaining two matches against Uganda and Zambia to have a chance of reaching the qualifying rounds next Monday.

The Fiji Pearls lost 59-52 to Wales in their opening Netball World Cup match.

Fiji will face Uganda at 1.20pm today before taking on Zambia at 5.20pm tomorrow.

Australia launched its Netball World Cup defense with a comfortable 73-32 victory over Trinidad and Tobago in Sydney while the Silver Ferns also had a comprehensive 73-28 win over Barbados.

Samoa were thrashed 90-44 by Jamaica while Malawi upset South Africa with a 58-51 victory.

England also secured a comfortable 60-19 win over Scotland.
