England defeated favourites New Zealand 19-17 to win the Wellington 7s with Isoa Damu scoring the last minute try.
The Digicel Fiji 7s team has again failed to go past in the quarterfinals at the IRB World 7s Series.
Iliesa Tanivula coached side went out in the Cup quarterfinals, going down 10-31 to England.
Fiji led 10-7 at the break with tries from Peni Rokodiva Junior and Rupeni Nasiga. But was no match to England in the second spell as they failed to cross the try line while England scored four unanswered tries to seal the 31-10 victory.
Fiji then also went to lose the Plate semifinal. It was Wales this time that defeated Fiji by 14-12. Co-Captain Etonia Naba was sin-binned in this match for a high tackle.
In the Cup semifinals, New Zealand edged Argentina 10-7 and England outclassed Kenya 26-0.
In the Plate semifinals, South Africa defeated USA 22-0 while Wales overcame Fiji 14-12. South Africa went on to win the plate final beating Wales 26-12.
Kenya defeated Wales 10-7 to reach the semifinals while Argentina beat USA 24-14 and Fijian Lote Raikabula scored the only try for New Zealand, as they beat Dubai and George 7s champions South Africa 7-0.
