Fiji needs to present a really good case to the newly elected Australian government for a possibility of having the travel bans on interim government members, lifted.
These are the sentiments of the Citizen's Constitutional Forum Director, Reverend Akuila Yabaki after some correspondence with the former Australian Foreign Affairs Minister.
Yabaki said that Australia is clearly committed to assist Fiji, however this will depend on the concrete steps that the Interim Government has taken towards democracy.
Interim Finance Minister, Mahendra Chaudhry confirmed earlier that they will engage in talks with Australia's Prime Minister-elect, Kevin Rudd once he forms his government, on lifting the travel ban against Fiji, changing their stance on the interim government from one of isolation to one of constructive engagement.
