Fiji Military Forces can’t stop Qarase
Spokesman Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga said the Army has no authority to do such a thing.
He said Qarase should stop blaming the Army for his reasons for not coming to Suva.
Ousted Prime Minister, Laisenia Qarase said he will now wait for Air Fiji to confirm if they can fly him over to Suva.
Following the statements by the military that it never gave a directive to Air Fiji to stop Qarase from boarding the Air Fiji flight to Suva, Qarase told Village News that he now has to know the airline company's decision before commenting on his trip to the capital city.
Qarase said he cannot say much on what military spokesperson, Lt Colonel Mosese Tikoitoga has said.
Meanwhile Air Fiji spokesperson, Adrian Ali said that if Laisenia Qarase is booked on the flight to Suva this Friday then he will be on the flight as they cannot dictate who books a flight and who doesn't.
Ali also maintains that as far as he is concerned no directive was given to the airline on not bringing Qarase to Suva and if this was done it would have had to come through their Chief Executive Officer, Sialeni Vuetaki.
Vuetaki had confirmed to Village News yesterday that a directive was given not to transport Qarase to Suva. When contacted again on the matter, he refused to comment and referred all questions to the Air Fiji Spokesperson.
