Fiji has a month to decide whether or not it will adhere to the Pacific Forum Leaders' request to have an election date set.
May is the deadline for Fiji to decide on a date for election, given by Pacific Island Forum Leaders at their meeting in PNG in January this year, with the directive for elections to be held by December.
On this path, the Interim Government, political parties and stakeholders have so far met, through the Political Dialogue Forum last month, and discussed a way forward, the agenda and issues for the upcoming Presidential Forum.
Another Political Dialogue Forum is expected to take place this week.
Meanwhile, the 40th Pacific Islands Forum Leaders' Meeting dates have been confirmed to be held on the 4th - 7th of August this year.
The meetings will be held in Cairns, Australia and it is highly likely that Fiji and its progress towards elections will be one of the items on the agenda up for discussion, as by this time, a date should have been set for elections.
