The Fiji Grocers Association has welcomed the decision by Trade Minister and Acting Finance Minister to cancel the Counter Inflation Order.
President Savendra Dayal said if the decision had gone ahead it would have had an implication on people and the economy.
Dayal said the aim of the counter inflation order was to keep prices low, however when the price competition gets out of the market, the competition disappears leading to other problems.
He adds the association agrees that a targeted approach is a better model to help the poor.
