Fiji's Ambassador to Beijing Sir James Ah Koy said the Fiji Government has a good reputation of repaying its loans on time.
Ah Koy is in the country to assist the interim government in securing a $240 million dollars soft loan from China for various projects
The projects include low cost housing schemes worth $50 million dollars for rural and squatter areas and $2 million dollars low cost building project and to start a factory that will make building blocks from sawdust and other waste materials.
Ah Koy said its' an opportunity for local carpenters who are still looking for jobs.
Meanwhile, ousted Prime Minister Laisenia Qarase said such loan should be approved by parliament but also alleges that the interim administration is trying to win the hearts of the people so that they support the People's Charter and warned the Chinese government to be careful in dealing with the regime.
Qarase said he will make a full statement regarding the issue tomorrow.
