Quality Ball is Key 29/05/2008 | 10:25

Winning quality ball in the kickoffs will be the key area for the Digicel Fiji Sevens team to set their focus when the Edinburgh Sevens kicks off on Saturday night.

After their controversial 19-14 loss to Samoa at the London Sevens, it has been highlighted that the side failed to win any possession in the first 8 minutes of the final.

Manager Opetaia Ravai said with the side aiming to finish in second place in the IRB points standing, it is important to start every game well.

“We obviously have to work on our weaknesses – especially in the kick-offs. It’s still a sore thumb in our preparation efforts. But we will work at it and come Scotland we will do better in those areas. We’ll work at it in Scotland and once we have possession, these boys can do damage but the main thing is winning the kick-offs and the set pieces.” Fiji Team Manager Opetaia Ravai

Fiji's opening pool game is on Saturday night against France at 9.40pm.

The second pool game is at 12.46am against Moldova before the final pool game against Kenya at 4.14am Sunday.
