The CEO of Fiji Football Association, Bob Kumar confirmed that he has received a letter of intention that former President of Lautoka Football Association, Shalendra Prasad wants to contest the post of the Fiji FA President on the 6th of next month.
However, Kumar said they have not received the nomination letter.
When asked on whether Prasad is eligible to contest the Fiji FA President’s post, Kumar said he cannot comment on the issue.
He said this will be known when the nominations close seven days before the election.
It is not known why Kumar is not revealing whether Prasad is eligible to contest the election.
Fijivillage has seen the nomination letter sent to Fiji FA CEO, Bob Kumar.
The nomination is signed by Lautoka Football Association Secretary, Muni Rajan Nair.
A statement released by Wheels of Change said the Fiji FA constitution states that to be eligible for nomination as a candidate for the office of Fiji FA President, the candidate shall have served Fiji FA as its Vice President or its member association as either its President or Vice President for at least three years of the last five years prior to the date of the Congress at which the election will take place.
Wheels of Change which is a group calling for a change in the Fiji FA leadership said this has opened the door for Shalendra Prasad as he qualifies to contest the election under this section.
