Fiji Emerges As Potential Competitor
The TMCnet.Com website reported that many US companies are turning to alternatives to traditional operations due to the down turn in the economy and are outsourcing or off shoring certain parts of their business as some regions in the world can offer significantly low cost operations.
The report said that Fiji, having a high literacy rate of more than 93% and being an English speaking nation, the country also offers an excellent telecommunication infrastructure, making Fiji a new contact center hotspot.
The website reports that one Company, Mindpearl Group, had already spent much time investigating the potential in Fiji.
Mindpearl Chief Commercial Officer Alan Graham said they have undertaken extensive research and visits to Fiji, analyzed real estate availability, the labour market and met with local government departments and telecommunication providers.
Graham said the local government is keen to attract investment and job creation, particularly in the ICT sector and Fiji's position in the world is a great benefit for a contact center business supporting English speaking and western based consumer.
