Today is World Children's Day and it is celebrated in recognition of the rights of a child.
Many schools in Fiji have organized various programs while a Celebration will be held at the Suva Civic Centre today where children's rights will be the main topic of discussion.
The General Secretary of the Fiji Teachers Union Agni Deo Singh said the right of a child should be seriously looked at both by teachers and parents.
Singh is also asking parents and teachers to be mindful of the children's needs.
Meanwhile, the Police Commissioner Commodore Esala Teleni has stressed to children the importance of learning and adopting good values.
Teleni said children are exposed to a lot of violence today however he said the police force is optimistic that if a family unit is happy then Fiji will not have problems of crime involving children. Commodore Teleni has called on parents to instill good values in their children so they can become good adults in future.
