Fiji Bitter Marist 7s update
Under heavy conditions as rain kept pouring in Suva, some other overseas based players and locals were a bit off the mark today but may turn things around tonight in the eliminations and finals tomorrow.
For the Police side, Ulaiasi Lawavou and Manueli Laqai have been the main force in the forwards and showed a lot of determination.
From the Westfield Barbarians team, Pio Tuwai also looks good along with Seremaia Burotu who started slow this morning but was impressive this afternoon setting up tries and also scoring some.
Metuisela Talebula and Jasa Veremalua who are playing for the Natabua Gold side look good to be in the national team.
Talebula was at his usual best setting play while Veremalua on one occasion ran 55 meters to score underneath the posts.
Nemani Nagusa of the Hideaway Hurricanes performed well and set up some tries.
He committed the defenders creating gaps in the opponent’s backline.
Leone Nakarawa of Army Green is another player knocking hard on the door to be selected and he was seen today committing players and on one occasion he committed about four players.
Moving on, Alipate Ratini lacked speed out wide but the weather may be playing a part in this.
Joeli Lutumailagi also looked ordinary at times at rover but looks good in defense.
Vereniki Goneva who is playing for Yamacia has so far scored four tries, looks fit and is in good shape.
Waisea Nayacalevu of the Uprising team looks a bit heavy and will have to work hard in the remaining matches.
He has gained a bit of weight too.
Another player to watch out for in the Marist side is Jerry Tuwai who has scored five tries.
He has a lot of speed to burn and is aggressive with ball in hand.
Whenever he had ball in hand he made line breaks.
Tuwai said he is back from his injury to prove his worth.
