The Vodafone Fiji Bati are set to play Samoa in next year’s Pacific Test for a place in the end-of-season Four Nations tournament to be staged in Australia and New Zealand.

There had been some confusion about how the fourth team in the tournament would be chosen.

The Fiji National Rugby League Chairman Peni Musunamasi they had already qualified after beating Samoa 22-4 in last weekend’s World Cup quarterfinal.

However, according to the Four Nations organisers, they had decided before the World Cup that the two highest finishing teams would play off next year for a spot in 4 Nations.

Having reached the semifinals of the past two World Cups, the Fiji National Rugby League board has a strong argument to claim they should automatically be included in the 2014 Four Nations tournament.

Musunamasi said they have sent an email to the International Rugby League Federation and are waiting for a clarification on the issue.

Meanwhile, the final of the Rugby League World Cup will feature New Zealand and Australia at 3.30am this Sunday.
