Fiji’s dream of playing in its first ever Four Nations Championship was dashed as the Vodafone Fiji Bati lost to Samoa 32-16 last night.

Fiji led 16-12 in the first half with tries to Kevin Naiqama, James Storer and Lote Tuqiri.

Samoa came back in the second half with their hard-hitting defence which kept Fiji scoreless.

Brisbane Broncos wing Daniel Vidot led the charge for Samoa as they scored three unanswered tries in the second half to claim the final spot in the Four Nations Championship.

Samoa will join England, Australia and New Zealand.

Meanwhile, Petero Civoniceva made a surprise return for the Bati after announcing his retirement last year.
