Vodafone Fiji Bati captain Petero Civoniceva still cannot believe the reception they received yesterday.

Civoniceva who made the comment in front of thousands of fans at Sukuna Park said even though they lost in the RLWC semifinal, fans still turned out in numbers to welcome them.

The 37 year old said he hopes they have inspired upcoming players.


Fiji Sports Commission Chairman Peter Mazey thanked the players for being great ambassadors of the country.


The Vodafone Fiji Bati also sang the hymn ‘Oqo na noqu Masu’(This is my Prayer) to the cheering of the fans.

Most overseas based players will spend the next few days in Fiji before they leave the country.

Meanwhile, New Zealand will meet Australia in the rugby league world cup final this Sunday at 3:30am.
