Fiji Bati wing, Akuila Uate's agent says the Fijian flyer would be seeking a long-term deal, but was in no rush to kickoff contract talks with the New Castle Knights.

Uate has started the season in spectacular fashion on New Castle's left wing to underline his reputation as one of the NRL's most exciting prospects.

The 21-year-old's manager Darryl Mather, said he hoped to open negotiations with the Knights this month and was confident Uate would be in a strong bargaining position thanks to his early-season form.

Uate has played in only seven top-grade games, scoring five tries, but looks set to establish himself as an NRL regular in 2009.

Uate was one of the shining stars for Fiji Bati at the Rugby League World Cup last years as they lost in the semifinals.
