Team Fiji will certainly miss out on a Gold medal in Cook Islands this year, after the Fiji Bati pulled out of the Pacific Mini Games.
With a top class performance at the Rugby League World Cup, Fiji Bati were favourites to win the Gold medal.
Fiji National Rugby League chairman Moape Kaloumaira said there are a few reasons for pulling out. He said one of the main reasons is for them to concentrate on the fourth world ranking playoff in October.
Kaloumaira said the winner of Tonga, Papua New Guinea, Cook Islands and Samoa will play Fiji for the world's fourth ranking.
He said to be ranked in the top four of the world, Fiji Bati have lined up six internationals games to be played in June and July.
With now Fiji Bati pulling out, there are only 14 sports that will be going to the Mini Pacific Games in September.
