A star studded Lomaiviti outfit has beaten the Digicel Fiji Barbarians 10-5 in their opening pool match.

Playing at the Suva Grammar School ground, Lomaivaiti fielded top players like Waisale Serevi, William Ryder, Waisale Suka, Epeli Ruivadra, Marika Vunibaka, Viliame Satala and Kelemedi Bola.

Suka and Vunibaka, who are vying for a place in the 12-man Fiji Sevens team to defend the Melrose Cup, scored the tries for the Lomaiviti side.

The Fiji Barbarians also lost this morning to PWD Bure Lautoka 8-7 and is now out of the main elimination.

Meanwhile, the Digicel Fiji Warriors have advanced into the main elimination winning their second pool match.

After a 33-0 win over Covenant Brothers, Fiji went on to beat Treasure Pirates 24-7.

Digicel Fiji Sevens coach Iliesa Tanivula and the national selectors are at the grounds scouting the players.

Tanivula said whichever overseas players are selected will have to adjust themselves quickly to the sevens code.
