We are just eight meters away from having a huge power rationing plan right around the country.
This is the revelation from the Fiji Electricity Authority as the country gears up for the Festive Season this month.
Acting Chief Executive, Sunil De Silva said that at the moment water levels at their main Hydro plant at the Monasavu Dam sits at 723m which is just 8m away from the critical point of 715m adding this is worrying.
De Silva adds that if the public starts power saving measures, there will not be any power rationing this Christmas.
Meanwhile, the Water Supply Department Spokesperson Maika Nagalu said that the public should not take the advice given by FEA lightly as the decrease in rainfall has affected their operations as well.
Some power saving measures is to switch off light bulbs and electrical appliances when it is not in use and to switch to power saving lights instead of light bulbs.
