It might be Digicel Fiji 7s coach Iliesa Tanivula’s worst hunting ground but the reality remains that if he is to do well in the IRB 7s series than it will have to start in Dubai this weekend.
With Fiji’s poor results in Dubai dating back to the last win in 1998, Tanivula has a tough task ahead of him in trying to end their 12 year losing streak.
With 8 players playing in the City of Gold for the first time this season, Tanivula said that it is not to be used as an excuse for his boys.
Fiji is in Pool D and will have to beat England, France and Portugal to secure a quarter final spot with either the winner or runner up from Pool C which has South Africa, Australia, Scotland and Russia.
Fiji will kick off the Dubai 7s on Friday at 6.20pm with Portugal.
