Fiji 7s to faceoff Samoa in quarters
The Iliesa Tanivula coached side defeated France 42-nil in their opening pool game yesterday before winning 38-nil against Canada and were held to a 7-all draw in the last game against South Africa.
South Africa, following their 12-14 loss to France came back firing from the opening whistle but Fiji had themselves to blame as poor decisions during the game did not help the side as they had to struggle to regroup in the last minute to force a 7-all draw.
Speaking after the game, Coach Iliesa Tanivula said that they were happy with the outcome of their previous pool games but a lot of areas needed to be fixed before the quarter finals against Samoa today.
Tanivula believe that his boys can produce the results today in the crucial game against our South Pacific neighbors Samoa, especially seeing how they managed to work hard in the last few minutes of the game.
Former Fiji 7's manager Sale Sorovaki is confident that the Fiji team will beat Samoa, although most rugby fans would want a showdown with Australia.
Results from last night's game, New Zealand beat Argentina 34-7, England beat Wales 33-7, Australia thumped Samoa 29-5, Canada beat France 19-14 and Tonga edge Kenya 17-10.
In the cup quarter finals today at 2.33pm, England will play Argentina, Fiji will face Samoa at 2.55pm with Australia playing South Africa at 3.17pm before New Zealand takes Wales at 3.39pm.
The cup semi-finals will start at 6.35pm and the cup final will be played at 9pm.
