The Digicel Fiji 7s team faces a tough path with many obstacles on the way in the England 7s next weekend.

Since the tournament started in 2006, Fiji won the first title and the only other time they reached the final was under current coach Josateki Savou when they lost in a controversial final to Samoa in 2008.

The scenario this time around is similar to last year where Fiji was in the same pool with South Africa in a game which ended in a draw which resulted in the quarter final against Australia.

Fiji lost in the cup quarter final last year to Australia 29-28 and Australia is likely to be one of their opponents again together with Samoa when they reach the play-off stages.

In London the Fiji team is in Pool D with South Africa, Russia and Portugal.

Fiji will open their England 7s campaign next Saturday night at 10.34pm against Portugal.
