Fiji 7s team try to achieve back to back titles in NZ
Despite reaching the Cup final on each occasion, Fiji have failed to successfully defend either of the titles they won in 2000 and 2006 after defeats to Australia and Samoa in 2001 and 2007 respectively.
In the tournament's 11 year history, New Zealand are the only side to have won back to back Wellington Cups, winning three of their four titles in 2003, 2004 and 2005, but the 2011 event offers Iliesa Tanivula and his side a third chance to achieve the same feat.
Tanivula said that like any other team they are in Wellington to try and win.
The coaching staff will name their run on team tonight with an experience players likely to play in the game against France.
Tanivula in training has been using Jerry Burotu, Watisoni Votu and Apisai Nayabo will start in the forwards with captain Emosi Vucago at half back, Ilai Tinai at playmaker, Mitieli Nacagilevu at rover and Joeli Lutumailagi on the wing.
The likes of newcomers Nemani Nagusa, Semesa Gonevou, Peni Gaunimeke, Kelemedi Bola and Apisai Navoro are expected to be used as impact players.
The Digicel Fiji 7s team takes on France tomorrow at 1.44pm, then Canada at 4.40pm and the last pool game against South Africa at 9.12pm.
