The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has stormed into the cup quarterfinals of the Gold Coast 7s after beating Australia 35-12 in their last pool match.
Fiji’s ferocious defence helped them dominate the game as they scored five unanswered tries to claim an impressive victory.
Lanky Semi Kunatani was in top form scoring two tries while other tries came from Apisai Domolailai, Setefano Cakau and Apisalome Waqatabu.
Despite the win Coach Ben Ryan commended the players for putting on an impressive performance.
Ryan added he was happy with the way the players defended against a tough Australian team.
New find playmaker Jerry Tuwai also put on a sterling performance as he dazzles the crowd with his sidestep to set up three of Fiji’s tries.
Fiji will take on Wales in the second quarterfinal at 1.10pm today.
In other cup quarterfinals New Zealand will take on England at 12.48pm, Argentina will take on Samoa at 1.32pm while South Africa takes on host Australia at 1.54pm.
The semi finals will kick off at 4.53pm while the final will be held at 7.49pm.
