Fiji 7s team manager speaks out
Those are the words of Fiji 7s Manager to the Hong Kong and Australia 7s Talemo Waqa, after claims were made by former captain and player Emosi Vucago that Waqa is the cause of the downfall of the team.
Waqa stated that he was only doing his job as the Manager and he did not interfere in any way.
He also said he never chose the starting line-up for the games as claimed by Vucago.
Vucago has also alleged that Waqa treated the Fiji 7s team as an age group team and also stopped the players from writing on their straps before the games.
Waqa said this is the professional era, and writing on the straps is meaningless if players do not perform on the field.
He said they had also noticed that players were taking a lot of time before warm-ups to write on their strapping and boots.
Waqa said National 7s squad is currently preparing for the England and Scotland 7s and they are ensuring that players have set their goals and objectives to lift their performance.
