The Digicel Fiji 7's team has started its campaign at the New Zealand 7's tournament on a high after beating France by 42-0 in the first match.

Captain, Emosi Vucago opened the score sheet for Fiji after he danced through the French defense in the first minute.

Mitieli Nacagilevu beat four French players to get the second try for Fiji while Joeli Lutumailagi got the third try for Fiji just before half time.

Watisoni Votu got two tries in the second half to give Fiji a comfortable 42-0 win.

Fiji's back-line players also showed class in the opening match after they did not allow France to cross their try line.

Fiji's attack and defence has improved dramatically however winning the kick offs is still an issue.

Fiji will take on Canada at 4.40pm in the second pool match with a show down against South Africa at 9.12pm.

Meanwhile, Samoa edged Kenya 24-21 in a close contest in the first match and Australia thrashed Tonga 47-7.
