The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has the highest try-scoring rate in the World Series with a try in every 44 seconds of possession.

In the latest statistics on irb.com, Fiji enjoys the third lowest amount of possession and in terms of how they play, they have a low rate of passing, and of taking the ball into contact, with 76% of their tries scored with three or less passes in the build-up and 85% of tries scored with no tackle, ruck or maul in the build-up.

Of all the teams the Vodafone Fiji 7s side have the highest rate of ‘tackle-only’ situations, suggesting they don't frequently compete at the breakdown but when they do, they are successful in turning over possession.

However, in terms of looking after their own ball at the tackle, ruck or maul area they have the lowest retention rate in the series showing perhaps why they opt not to go into contact.

Of Fiji's losses 67% have been by a margin of 10 points or less and 50% by 5 points or less.

Meanwhile, Fiji faces France this Saturday at 1pm in their first Japan 7s match.

They will then play USA at 4:18pm and Samoa at 8:52pm.
