With the World Sevens Series success now counted as history, the Vodafone Fiji 7s team has switched the focus to win gold in next month's Pacific Games in Papua New Guinea.

Team Manager, Paula Biu says they are aware of the participation of New Zealand and Australia which is also a good build up match for them for the next series and the Olympics next year.

Biu adds that coach Ben Ryan will be arriving into the country next Thursday while the team will be camping on the 30th of this month.

Biu says most of the players are currently playing in their respective provincial teams for the Skipper Cup. This has allowed them to maintain their fitness before joining camp.

Samoa won the 7s gold in the 2011 Pacific Games after edging Fiji 21-19.

Fiji is pooled with Tahiti, Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.

The Pacific Games Sevens tournament will be held from the 8th to the 10th of next month.
