Fiji 7s team finds rhythm
While a lot of questions had been raised on whether the side has what it takes to win the RWC Sevens, they showed a lot of promising moves to score 6 tries against France, who only manage a try.
Napolioni Nalaga showed why he is rated as the most feared winger in France when he fend off a tackler for the opening try,.
Before halftime Fiji scored another two tries to Neumi Nanuku and a penalty try to lead 19-0 at halftime.
Fiji increased their lead with Nalaga's second try which was converted by Jone Daunivucu for the 26-5 score line.
France scored their only try after a lapse in Fiji's defence before Osea Sariki showed his speed for a 33-5 lead.
Daunivucu crossed the try line at the stroke of fulltime for Fiji to beat France 38-5.
In their second pool game the Naevo captained side defeated USA 26-12.
Coach Iliesa Tanivula said the players have now found their rhythm and he is expecting them to lift their performance in the quarter final against Kenya.
Tanivula is not taking Kenya lightly although they lost to England 26-7 in their last pool game and he is confident the players will show the World their capabilities like they did against France.
Last other results, Samoa defeated Australia 19 points to nil, South Africa beat Scotland 19 points to 14, Argentina beat Wales 14 points to nil and New Zealand defeated Tonga 24 points to 7.
The opening quarter final match will kick off at 9.28pm tonight where New Zealand will take on Wales at 9.50pm, England will face Samoa while at 10.12pm South Africa plays Argentina and the last quarter final match at 10.34pm will see Fiji battle it out with Kenya.
