Despite the absence of top players like Niko Matawalu, Leone Nakarawa, Emosi Vucago and Joeli Lutumailagi in the Fiji 7s team to the Marist 7s in Samoa this weekend, the team management is confident that the team will deliver at the tournament.
Manager Peter Gock said they know that they will be playing against some top teams from Australia and New Zealand and he has confidence in the squad they are taking.
The team that left for Samoa last night included Setefano Cakau, Watisoni Votu, Livai Ikanikoda, Lepani Botea, James Brown, Aporosa Tabulawaki, Joji Rigamate and Semi Ratudradra.
Gock believes it will be a good build-up to the opening leg of the IRB 7s which will kick-off in Gold Coast, Australia on the 25th of next month.A team from Tonga is also expected to take part in the Marist 7s to be held in Samoa this weekend.
