The Vodafone Fiji 7s team has secured a place in the cup semifinals of the Gold Coast 7s tournament after beating Wales 31-10 in the quarterfinals today.
Despite a shaky start Fiji managed to score five unanswered tries and rattle the Wales defense in the second half to claim victory and set up a semifinal showdown with England.
Fiji’s tries came from Apisalome Waqatabu, Semi Kunatani and Vatemo Ravouvou with hard hitting Isake Katonibau dotting down twice.
Captain Osea Kolinisau was in top form dictating play well and with his cunning restart Fiji was able to dominate possession in the second half.
Meanwhile a new champion will be crowned as England beat the All Blacks 31-7 in the first quarterfinal.
The Vodafone Fiji 7s team will take on England in the first semifinal at 4.53pm.
