The Digicel Fiji 7s side is awaiting a reply from the International Rugby Board in relation to the possibility of Navy Officer Nikola Matawalu taking part in the New Zealand 7s next month.
Team manager Ratu Tevita Waqairawai said they had approached the IRB to work with their counterparts in New Zealand on the matter but are still awaiting a response.
He added that FRU is working hard to ensure that Matawalu is included in the final team to the New Zealand 7s.
Fijivillage news had earlier highlighted that FRU would be seeking permission for Matawalu and former manager Sale Sorovaki to go to New Zealand however it has been confirmed that Sorovaki will not travel with the team in this leg of the IRB World 7s Series.
The New Zealand 7s will be held on the 4th and 5th of next month and Fiji has been drawn in Pool D with South Africa, France and Canada.
