The Digicel Fiji 7s rugby team’s inconsistent performance at the South Africa 7s will now cost them as they are pooled with New Zealand for the Las Vegas leg next month.

After Fiji’s 45-19 plate win over France this morning, the national side has been grouped with series champions New Zealand, Australia and Scotland.

Despite Fiji’s high flying performance in Dubai last week, the Ben Ryan coached side failed to be the first team in the series to win back to back titles and the question of consistency still remains.

Fiji won the plate in Gold Coast two months ago before winning the Dubai 7s for the first time last week but this morning they won the plate again.

Last week Fiji was one of the best defensive teams but today they topped the statistics for surrendering possession mostly in breakdowns and making the most amount of errors.

Fiji earlier lost to Samoa 28-12 in the Cup quarterfinals but hammered Kenya 52-5 in the Plate semifinal.

In the cup final, South Africa beat New Zealand 17 14.

New Zealand still leads the table with 58 points followed by South Africa with 56, Fiji is third with 48 points and England is fourth with 40 points.

The next leg of the World Series will be held in Las Vegas from the 24th to the 26th of next month.
