The Digicel Fiji 7s coaching staff is expected to name a 16 member team to prepare for the Uprising International 7s after their fitness test next Wednesday.

Coach Alifereti Dere and his assistant, Etuate Waqa will use this tournament to build on their combination for the NZ and USA 7s and also will be looking at other local players who will play for their respective teams.

With Captain Setefano Cakau, Jimilai Nakaidawa and Livai Ikanikoda facing injury worries the coaches are likely to name their replacements from within the current 42 member squad.

Also ruled out for the NZ 7s are Josaia Lotawa, Aminiasi Nava and Nikola Matawalu who are members of the Fiji Military Forces.

The Fiji 7s team is one of the favourite teams to win the Uprising International 7s which will be held at the TFL Stadium from the 20th of January.
