Digicel Fiji 7's coach Iliesa Tanivula will use this weekend's Scotland 7's to build his side for future IRB 7's series although his side are the defending champion.

The Tanivula coached side which lost to Australia 29-28 in a closely contested quarter-final in England had relatively new faces in the back line which consists of Semi Keli, Ilai Tinai, Aisake Katonibau and Randell Kamea.

The side which lacks the experience in playing at the world stage also put up a good fight despite going down 26-24 to an experienced New Zealand team in the plate final.

Tanivula believes that with enough game time together, these players can defend the title in the Scotland 7's.

Fiji is in Pool D with USA, Wales and Scotland and are likely to face either Australia or England in the quarter-finals.

Fiji's opening pool game is against the host Scotland on Saturday at 11.09pm.
