While data from the Bureau of Statistics show that the fishing industry raked in over $134million in exports last year, a stakeholder believes that the figures are not accurate.
Fiji Fish managing director Graham Southwick said this may not be a true reflection of how the industry is performing.
However, Southwick said after a lapse of ten years, the fishing industry is on track to become a major contributor to the economy again.
Figures from the Bureau of Statistics show that over $134million worth of fish was exported last year compared to $101million in 2007 and export income from fish is expected to increase this year following the devaluation of the Fijian dollar.
