A 48 year old man and his son are expected to appear in court this morning charged with allegedly striking an on duty police officer at the Grantham Road Police post last week.

Police confirmed the two were charged with attempted murder.

According to Police, while the officer was interviewing a woman, the suspect with another person who were under the influence of liquor were making noise outside the police post.

The officer warned the two and it is then alleged that the 28 year old suspect went to his house, got hold of a knife and came to the police post where he allegedly struck the officer on the head.

It is alleged that his 48 year old father accompanied him to the police post where the incident took place.

The police officer remains admitted at the CWM hospital in a critical condition.

Meanwhile two men have been arrested and charged in relation to an early morning robbery along Princess Road on Thursday morning.

Police confirmed the two were arrested late Saturday evening from Nabua while one of their accomplices is still on the run.

The two are expected to appear in court this morning.

It is alleged that the two entered the house at Princess Road and terrorized the family before walking away with assorted items like cash, laptops and jewellery.
