A 50 year old father from Basoga, Labasa is expected to appear in the Labasa Magistrate Court this morning, after being charged for allegedly hacking his daughter's boyfriend with a cane knife over the weekend.
Police have charged the father with one count of act with intent to cause grievance bodily harm.
The 23 year old boyfriend is still admitted at the Labasa Hospital in serious condition after undergoing surgery.
The alleged incident took place when the boyfriend made a visit to his girlfriend's place.
According to Police, the father heard some noises coming from the daughter's room and upon checking he found the boyfriend hiding under the bed.
The father brought a cane knife from the kitchen and allegedly struck the boy in the back a number of times.
