Father raise concern over doctors alleged negligence
The 13 year old, Nishchal Prasad was suffering from running stomach and high fever over the weekend.
Nishcal's father, Narendra Prasad told Fijivillage News that he took his son to Lautoka Hospital on Saturday and was attended by a trainee doctor who gave him an injection and prescribed some medicine to be bought from the pharmacy in the city which was closed due to the Public holiday.
He said he took his son home and his condition worsened. Prasad said he returned to the hospital on Sunday and was attended by another doctor who told them that it was too late and his son could not be saved. He was admitted at the emergency unit and later passed away on Monday.
Prasad said he will see his lawyers after his son's funeral today and take legal action against the first doctor who refused to admit Nishchal in the first place.
General Manager for Lautoka Hospital, Dr.Tui Taoi said she is yet to be informed about this case however she has called on teachers and parents to take extreme care of children if they are sick to avoid such mishaps.
Meanwhile, two people suffering from typhoid fever are recovering at the Labasa Hospital. A 9 year old student is admitted at the Children's ward while the second patient is an 83 year old man of Labasa.
