Father hopes for visit from children
With a day left for the festival of Diwali there are some people out there who are less fortunate and are away from their loved ones.
Fijivillage visited some residents at the Old People's home who welcomed us with tears.
Deo Karan who has been staying at the home for nearly two years said he is looking forward to the day when he will be able to see his children again.
Karan said he is celebrating Diwali just for the sake of it because he has lost the spirit of the festival.
Another resident, a 71 year old mother of five, Chand Kuar said though she may be smiling today but her heart is out with her children who left her at the home nearly three years ago. She said she is content at living at the home.
Meanwhile, the staff of the Old People's Home organized a pre Diwali function for the residents yesterday.
Meanwhile, The Shri Sanatan Dharam Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji has called on people celebrating Diwali not to use firecrackers between 5.30pm to 7.30pm tomorrow.
