A father and son of Raiwaqa appeared before Magistrate Jute Nanayakkara today charged with attempted murder.

The son 28 year old Anasa Baleiduadua and his father father, 48 year old Tevita Seru allegedly struck a police officer who was on-duty with a knife at the Grantham Road Police Post last week.

Seru asked the court for bail because he wanted to look for a lawyer however Magistrate Nanayakkara refused bail because of the seriousness of the offence.

The two have been remanded in custody until Friday where they will be called into the Suva High Court.

The police officer remains admitted at the CWM hospital in a critical condition.
