Investigations are currently underway by police and the National Fire Authority in relation to a house fire in Bau road Nausori which claimed the life of the house-owner early this morning.
National Fire Authority CEO John O’Connor said after putting out the fire early this morning they found out that someone was trapped in the house.
He said they are investigating to determine why the man could not escape.
The man’s wife and two children were in the neighborhood when the fire started.
The cause of fire is still unknown.
O’Connor said nine people have lost their lives in fire incidents this year compared to 16 for the same period last year.
