Farmers in the Northern Division are seeking an explanation from the Fiji Sugar Corporation after the Labasa Mill broke down on Monday.

A grower’s councilor of Wainikoro Sector Gyan Singh said they have not received any explanation from the FSC on why the mill has stopped crushing from Monday.

According to Singh, many labourers who rely on harvesting cane are finding it difficult to send their children to school, and the breakdown of the mill will put an extra burden on them.

Attempts to get a comment from the Fiji Sugar Corporation proved futile.
