The military has today confirmed that some farmers and cane cutters from the Western division were taken to the military camp in the West a few days ago.
Permanent Secretary for Information and Military Spokesperson, Lt Colonel Neumi Leweni said the information they have received so far is that some of the people taken in had links to cane farm burnings.
He said they are now investigating the claims of harassment of the farmers by some soldiers.
However Lt Colonel Leweni said people will be taken in by the troops if they are linked to the cane burnings.
He said further information will be released after the completion of the investigations.
