Farmers around the country are now being asked to take precautionary measures as the country goes through a dry weather spell as a result of the El Nino Effect.

Principal Agriculture Officer Suliasi Tawake said after receiving reports from their various stations around the country, especially in the Northern and Western Division they are asking farmers to keep in mind that a long dry spell is expected and this is a threat to crop production.

Director Weather Office Rajendra Prasad added the dry spell is expected to continue into the first few months of next year.
