Police have arrested and charged a 28 year old farmer of Sigatoka for allegedly raping a 12 year old student on Tuesday.
Assistant Spokesperson, Corporal Josaia Weicavu has confirmed that the suspect visited the victim's house and asked the victim to accompany her to the farm to uproot Cassava. On their way the man told the girl that he wanted to have sex with her.
The girl then started running towards the house whereby the farmer grabbed her and dragged her to a nearby cane field and raped her.
According to Corporal Weicavu, the victim's parents left for Lautoka the same day to do school shopping when the incident happened.
The girl received injuries during the attack.
