The Nadroga Rugby team will consider the option of not playing in further Farebrother Sullivan trophy Challenge this season if their concerns are not met.

Spokesperson, Tiko Matawalu said this is a possibility but they will try their best not to let this happen.

He added Nadroga Rugby has a meeting with the Fiji Rugby Union tomorrow after which a decision will be taken.

Matawalu added one of their main concern is the percentage cut for the Digicel cup and Farebrother Sullivan trophy challenges.

In the Digicel cup the percentage cut from the gate takings is 25% to the Fiji Sports Council and 75% to the FRU.

Fiji Rugby Union’s 75% cut is then divided among the two participating teams which Nadroga rugby believes is still not enough.

In the Farebrother challenge format, the Cup holder gets 50% of the gate takings, 30% goes to the challenger and 20% to FRU. This was the system when they used to have a sponsor, but, the percentage cut is still the same now without a sponsor for the Farebrother challenge.

With the sponsorship of the Farebrother, the teams were receiving money for their preparations.

Meanwhile, this week’s Farebrother Sullivan trophy challenge between Nadroga and Northland has been postponed due to inclement weather affecting the country.
